ABSTRACT Gas Flaring is a common occurrence due to its cost-effectiveness in Libya. It is known to be the process of subjecting gas from well to combustion either to dispose it or for safety reasons. It has posed a serious challenge to the global environment today in which global warming is one of these challenges. This study is aimed at assessing awareness and perception of Gas Flaring in Libya. It is believed that environmental problems that are associated with Gas Flaring have impacts on the Libyan people and it has often resulted in severe health issues. The students of Sabratha University West of Libya were selected as the sample population. The data was conveniently collected through questionnaire. The data collected were then transferred to Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20. for analysis. The results of this study show that the awareness of students of Sabratha University West of Libya about Gas Flaring is average due to the students' agreement level about Gas Flaring. It was discovered from the result of this study that awareness about Gas Flaring had a positive impact on perception about Gas Flaring. In addition, only out of all the demographic profile, only gender had a significant difference in the levels of awareness and perception towards Gas Flaring. Awareness was also discovered to be a predictor to perception (outcome) of students about Gas Flaring. Keywords: Awareness, Perception, Gas Flaring, Libya, Sabratha University.
