ABSTRACT
Knowledge sharing may be viewed as a type of exchange process in which people
share their information and expertise with their co-workers in the hopes of getting
knowledge from others in return. It refers to a collection of actions that contribute to
the sharing of knowledge and information, as well as assisting others in doing so.
Knowledge sharing (KS) is essential, it drives corporate innovation; definitive
knowledge precisely impacts the speed of innovation, while concealed knowledge
impacts the quality of innovation. The aim of this study is to examine the factors
affecting university student’s knowledge sharing through Facebook. A quantitative
research design is used in this study. A total of 300 students participated in the study.
A convenient sampling technique is employed, and the research is carried out at the
University of Nigeria in Enugu, Nigeria. In this research, the scale developed in 2017
by Moghavvemi et al. is used. The result of the study showed that perceived
enjoyment, perceived reciprocal benefit, perceived status and outcome expectation all
proved to be important factors that impact knowledge sharing. In the context of
knowledge power proved not to be a key factor, as most students are concerned about
sharing their knowledge with the believe that in doing so, other students will share
their knowledge. Outcome expectation had the highest influence on predicting
knowledge sharing among all the factors. For knowledge sharing, Facebook can be a
platform for individuals with a common interest to share their knowledge and learn
from each other. In a situation where the conventional face-to-face interaction to
exchange knowledge might not be possible, this factor can be considered to set up a
Facebook group for students for distance learning.
