This research focuses on “Employees’ Perceptions of Remuneration Based on Qualification at Kerbah Health Center”. Kerbah Health Center, which is one of the many public health facilities under the supervision of the County Health Team of Montserrado, Liberia; was established in 1974 and has 102 staffs. The County Health Team of Montserrado is a sub administrative branch of the Ministry of Health, which regulates all public health clinics and hospitals within Montserrado County. Each of the 15 Counties of Liberia has a County Health Team.
Despite some efforts made by the Ministry of Health as regard the delivery of health care services, employees of the MOH still perform poorly and this could be due to the result of insufficient salaries. There has been little improvement in the basic salaries despite the high living conditions, consequentially demoralizing employees, resulting to lack of commitment to the job, in some cases, to neglect of patients, unpunctuality at work, increase in maternal and infant mortalities, health complications of patients, professional brain drain, the tendency to work two or more jobs etc. These factors in the end question the credibility of the Ministry of Health.
Hence the problem of how to encourage employees, which could enable them to cope with the increasing inflation? The Ministry of Health needs to regard the sensitive nature of remuneration as a means of encouraging its employees with the aim of improving their performances. In this regard, a research was carried out to determine how employees perceive remuneration based on qualification at the Kerbah Health Center, Montserrado, Liberia.
