Özet notu | ABSTRACT<br/>Mobile Ad-hoc Network (MANET) is a popular technology that is used in the wireless<br/>network. MANET is a self-organizing mobile node that can communicate with each<br/>other directly without any centralized router and fixed infrastructure. MANET has a<br/>dynamic operation, where a node can enter the network or leaves from the network.<br/>Therefore, it is not easy to ensure that nodes are trustworthy or not. MANET suffers<br/>from different types of attacks and security threats. One of these attack is the wormhole<br/>attack. A wormhole attacks belong to most severe routing threats as they are able to<br/>disrupt a major part of the network traffic. Wormhole attack has been a major threat to<br/>MANET, therefore, various algorithms have been proposed to detect the wormhole<br/>attack, but still suffering from a unified solutions, and efficient detection for mobile<br/>ad-hoc network. Therefore, this thesis presents a detection algorithm called hybrid<br/>wormhole attack detection algorithm (HWAD) which is effective for all wormhole<br/>types, in-band and out-of-band attack. The algorithm also incurs low energy<br/>consumption and delay rates, for a variety of MANET scenarios. The proposed<br/>algorithm (HWAD) depends on checking whether every single node was affected by<br/>a wormhole or not, and then it performs the selection of the appropriate and safe route<br/>based on the transmission range, round trip time and packet delivery ratio to obtain<br/>high accuracy of detection the wormhole attack. HWAD does not based on any type<br/>of hardware equipment’s and middleware as well. The proposed hybrid algorithm<br/>HWAD was implemented through NS-2 network simulator. The performance metrics<br/>was taking into consideration to evaluate the proposed algorithm are detection rate,<br/>false positive rate, false negative rate, throughput, end to end delay, packet delivery<br/>ratio, packet loss ratio, routing overhead, and consuming energy. The simulation<br/>experimental results shown the key network performance metrics of the proposed<br/>approach HWAD outperformed in wormhole detection in comparison with other<br/>algorithms. HWAD performs exceptionally well, and can provide a high wormhole<br/>attack detection rate (DR) about 91% when the network density full with nodes.<br/>Extensive experimental results have verified the effectiveness and the efficiency of<br/>HWAD. |
