| Özet notu | ABSTRACT<br/>Prior to Feigenbaum’s concept of cost of quality, it was believed that employing<br/>higher costs such as getting better raw materials and machines as well as hiring<br/>experienced labor resulted in higher quality. Quality cost is more than just<br/>acquisition of more qualified labor. It means investing in the costs of conformance<br/>(costs of control) and the costs of failure of control (costs of non-conformance).This<br/>study investigated the relationship between management styles and the cost of<br/>quality in the construction industry using self-administered questionnaires distributed<br/>among employees of two different construction firms in Libya, Tripoli state.<br/>Management styles affect quality cost in the construction industry. Despite this, little<br/>has been done to counter the negative effects. In addition to meeting the set<br/>construction goals efficiently, quality cost management helps to maximize on<br/>profitability and contributes to improved day to day customer- supplier relationships.<br/>Additionally, quality costs can predict, measure, analyze, and aid in budget planning.<br/>In an effort to showcase the role played by style of management on Quality Cost, the<br/>research analyzed businesses in Libya. To explore this, the study narrows down its<br/>population to 101 respondents, 87 of whom are men while 17 are women. These<br/>subjects are chosen because initial review indicated that decision making plays a role<br/>in the way construction and engineering projects were accomplished including the<br/>‘Quality Cost’. Questionnaires are used which allow the participants to mark or<br/>discuss their responses. Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) is used to<br/>analyze the statistical data. The findings of the questionnaire reveal that indeed<br/>management styles have an impact on the cost of quality. Thus, there a need for<br/>construction firms to adopt cost of quality, but most importantly have an effective<br/>leadership that will support them to take up cost quality and implement it to achieve<br/>company objectives and those of their clients. |
