| Özet notu | ABSTRACT Municipal Solid Waste Management (MSWM) is a worldwide problem, and it is worsened in developing-countries as a result of inefficient dısposal methods. Many industrialized nations have developed waste minimization and recycling/reuse legislation to minimize the quantity of waste created, and alternate waste management strategies to garbage dumping on land are progressively being adopted to lessen the environmental implications of MSWM. Nonetheless, most developing-country research and MSWM have focused on garbage collection. This research set out to determine the current condition of waste management in north Cyprus, describe success areas and potential waste management hurdles, and eventually recommend strategies to be done to eliminate such barriers in order to improve sustainable waste management in urban settings. The research focuses on the many types and approaches of solid waste management, as well as the real-world health and environmental effects of haphazard rubbish management. Questions (interviews), group discussions, and observations were employed to carry out the study. Case studies from other developing-country cities were used as inspiration. Tables, photos, and statements were used to provide qualitative data, which was collected, processed, and the results presented. The study actually revealed that in North Cyprus, the only waste management practiced at the moment and over the years is Landfilling which in most cases is waste dumping as due to lack of finances there had been poor management of the landfill site. Some recommendations were made in order to achieve the goals of adaption of MSW management. The disposal of wastes is one of the greatest challenges in North Cyprus, hence disposal solutions were studied in depth in this study. On the basis of the most suitable MSW tactics, certain recommendations were made. The most essential recommendation was that political stability be achieved, that public compliance with legislation be ensured, and that public knowledge of waste-related concerns in North Cyprus be raised. |
