Özet notu | ABSTRACT<br/>Tangerine (Citrus reticulata L.) is a type of citrus plant. Citrus is a genus of flowering<br/>plants in the family Rutaceae and a common name for edible fruits of this genus. Citrus<br/>contains phenolic bioactive compounds which confirred a powerful antioxidant, antiinflammatory<br/>and anticancer properties.Therefore this research is aimed to evaluate<br/>the phytochemical and antioxidant effect of tangerine peels extracts/syilver<br/>nanoparticles. The Tangerine peels powder was evalueted for its pharmacognostic<br/>properties and then extracted with methanol using maceration and the extract was<br/>subjected to the phytochemical studies. The thin layer chromatography (TLC) were<br/>conducted using different solvent systems and the Rf values of the separeted<br/>component were calculated . The synthesis of Nanoparticles was made using Silver<br/>nitrate (AgNO3), and the nanoparticles was charactarized using FT-IR and SEM<br/>analysis. The antioxidant activity of the extract were determined using DPPH and<br/>Hydrogen peroxide Scavenging Assay (HPSA) using ascorbic acid as standard. The<br/>antibacterial activity of the extract and silver nanoparticles was performed using agar<br/>diffusion method against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. The<br/>premilinary phytochemical screening of the extract indicate the presence of<br/>tanins,saponins,alkaloids and flavonoids . The free radical scavening activity of the<br/>plant extract showed IC50 of 6.17 mg/ml using DPPH, and IC50 of 8.4 mg/ml using<br/>HPSA. The ascorbic acid (standard) showed IC50 = 1.929 mg/ml. The Antibacterial<br/>test releaved that the tangerine peels plant extract had an antibacteerial activity against<br/>the Gram postive Staphylococcus aureus and no activity against Escherichia coli .The<br/>results indicated that the extract contain phenolic coumpounds that can scavenge free<br/>radicals and inbibit the growth of Gram postive bacteria.<br/>Keywords: Amtibacterial, Antioxidant ,Citrus reticulata, DPPH |
