ABSTRACT<br/>This study aims to investigate the factors that influence families’ involvement in the child welfare system and the difficulties in offering clients in Kambia District, North West, adequate services. To coordinate and offer services, all local service promoters involved with child welfare system across nations face ongoing problems. Family participation with organizations like Child Welfare Service might result from poverty, domestic abuse, drug abuse, and mental health problems. Rural residents face more difficulties, which can result in societal mistreatment and neglect, which can subsequently cause them to mistreat or abandon their kids. These issues include a shortage of resources in comparison to metropolitan areas, issues with transportation, geography, and the applicability of best practices. To better understand the essence of experiencing rural child welfare, I did qualitative phenomenological interviews with four parents active in CWS in the Kambia District, one adult who was in CWS as a kid, and four social workers who work directly with rural parents. Access to services and barriers, justifications for their removal, and opinions on social policy reforms were the main topics of the interview questions. The findings show that rural families face particular challenges as a result of the complexity of their living circumstances; I discovered numerous structural impediments to service access. Families were unable to leave the system due to the same barriers that brought their children into CWS care. Guardians reported living far from resources and without transportation, making it difficult to attend court-ordered treatments such as substance abuse programs. The majority of services were located outside of rural areas, making them inaccessible to rural parents and lengthening their time in care. Social structures drive vulnerable individuals, such as rural families, into systems like CWS, while impeding their access to programs that might improve their well-being, so raising awareness about this problem is essential. |
