| Özet notu | ABSTRACT<br/>This research is aimed at examining how government policies and technology affects <br/>small firms’ productivity. It appears that considering the huge potentials of the firms <br/>despite the acknowledgement of their immense contributions to sustainable economic <br/>development, their performance still falls below expectation in some developing <br/>countries. There are two main variables for this research, government policy on small <br/>firms and technology on small firms. The research adopts a descriptive survey <br/>design, the targeted population of the research was line manager, managers and <br/>owners of small firms in South-western part of Nigeria with a sample of 500 <br/>respondents. A questionnaire was used as an instrument to determine the effect of <br/>government policy and technology on small firms’ productivity in Nigeria. Data was <br/>analyzed using frequency distribution. A linear regression model was used to <br/>determine the significance of government policies and technology on small firms’ <br/>productivity indicating relationship between government policies and small firms’ <br/>productivity. It was however concluded that both government policies and <br/>technology account for a significant variation on small firms’ productivity. The <br/>research is based on the need for the economy of developing countries like Nigeria to <br/>explore opportunities for sustainable economic growth and its benefit, by improving <br/>work efficiency and productivity through adoption of technological tools, maximize <br/>profit and opportunity through government policies and regulations. <br/>Keywords: Government policy, Productivity, Small Firms, Technology |
