ABSTRACT<br/>Towards the close of the twentieth century, environmental issues began to take on <br/>global proportions. These issues, which are becoming more important as they pose a <br/>threat to humanity, include the thinning of the ozone layer, global warming, the <br/>greenhouse effect, the degradation of the natural balance, the destruction of <br/>rainforests, and pollution of air and water. Climate change, on the other hand, is the <br/>most important and widespread environmental issue facing both developed and <br/>developing countries. It is mainly owing to human activity and industrialization that <br/>the concentrations of greenhouse gases (GHGs) have gone up, resulting in the <br/>formation of the greenhouse effect. This has led to environmental degradation, <br/>including air and water pollution. In particular, the Mediterranean, an inland sea, has <br/>been contaminated to the point of near-extinction. Chypre is the third biggest island <br/>country, after the islands of Sicily and Sardinian. On the entire island of Cyprus, <br/>similar environmental challenges can be found. The challenges in TRNC have been <br/>exacerbated by the presence of steam power stations, highways, fuel burning power <br/>usage, and rubbish. Air pollution and solid wastes are addressed in this research for <br/>TRNC. This information has been gathered through the use of descriptive statistics. <br/>Exponential Smoothing and ARIMA algorithms are used to estimate the leading <br/>period variables for air emissions in TRNC. As a consequence of the prediction study <br/>for TRNC, descriptive results as well as distinct implications are produced. MAPE's <br/>prediction accuracy approach also measures the projected values, and the ARIMA <br/>model consistently outperforms Holt-Winters' exponential smoothing method. <br/>According to the findings of an investigation of air emission data, trash creation <br/>overall and ozone emissions from five monitoring locations will increase.<br/>Keywords: Air Pollution, ARIMA Forecasting, Greenhouse Gases, Northern Cyprus <br/>Solid Waste Management |
