| Özet notu | ABSTRACT<br/>Non-governmental Organisations (NGOs) play a vital role in the socioeconomic <br/>development of Cameroon. They complement government’s efforts in providing <br/>sustainable development especially in the socio-economic sector. Despite this <br/>important role NGOs play in the development process they are faced with a number <br/>of barriers in remaining sustainable. This study seeks to explore the determinants of <br/>sustainability of NGOs in Cameroon. The main objective of the study was to develop <br/>a sustainable model that NGOs could use to overcome these barriers. It also seeks to <br/>examine how factors like income diversification, Organisational Management and <br/>impact investment can determine the sustainability of an NGO. The study targeted <br/>NGOs that were at the time of this study mostly actively engaged in youth and <br/>women empowerment in Cameroon; Thus NGO managers, Chief executive officers, <br/>board members and Founders were the main respondents. Simple random sampling <br/>technique was used to identify NGOs to participate in the study. A sample size of <br/>125 respondents was used. A structured questionnaire survey was conducted <br/>randomly in five Likert scales. Data were collected, processed and analysed to obtain <br/>results using regression and correlation analysis. The Cronbach’s Alpha test and also <br/>factor analysis test were used to access the reliability of the questionnaires. <br/>Furthermore, a normality test was utilized to evaluate the shape of the distribution of <br/>tables. Findings of the study indicated that the majority organizations in the sector of <br/>the study receive funding from external donors making up most of the funding <br/>for NGOs which encourages several challenges that poses a threat to their <br/>sustainability. Interestingly, the results reveal that the determinants; Income <br/>diversification, organizational management and impact investment has a huge <br/>positive role on the sustainability of NGOs in Cameroon. This result therefore, <br/>further upholds the main purpose and objectives of NGOs in providing sustainable <br/>socio-economic and environmental impact in communities.<br/>Recommendations were suggested to guide NGOs to embraced Impact Investment as <br/>a useful determinant to their Sustainability.<br/>Keywords: Impact Investment, Income Diversification, Non-Governmental <br/>Organizations (NGOs), Sustainability |
