| Özet notu | ABSTRACT<br/>Electronic commerce has over the years been one of the most adopted and accepted <br/>worldwide electronic transactions by the many populace. The traditional way of <br/>always going to the shop to buy goods and carrying them back home has always been <br/>one problem to the other. Those with the means in carrying the goods have it easy but <br/>on the other hand, the number of individuals without means outnumbers the other <br/>group. Moreover, it has also improved the cashless transaction system for curbing the <br/>carrying of bulk money around. However, the introduction of electronic commerce has <br/>not only improved the lives of its users but has also arisen a variety of security <br/>challenges that impact negatively on its users’ privacy and reduce their confidence in <br/>performing electronic transactions due to the low level of security in user password <br/>hashing.<br/>To curtail these issues, different kinds of hashing algorithms have been proposed over <br/>the years to ensure user private information is protected as they are mostly used on <br/>various electronic transaction platforms. Some of the commonly known hash <br/>algorithms developed over the years are MD5, SHA1, SHA2, SHA3, SHA192, <br/>BCRYPT, SCRYPT, ARGON2, etc. With the number of proposed hashing algorithms, <br/>the research proposes the use of a hybrid combination of ARGON2i and ARGON2d <br/>in user password hashing.<br/>Keywords: Electronic Commerce, Hash Functions, Password, Security |
