Özet notu ABSTRACT<br/>This thesis investigates the dynamics of team competition climate within the context <br/>of the hospitality industry, with a specific focus on its influence on employee <br/>performance and competitive orientation. The study was conducted at Aviel Suites <br/>Hotel in Abuja, Nigeria, a renowned establishment known for its commitment to <br/>service excellence and continuous improvement.<br/>Drawing on a comprehensive literature review, the research first establishes a <br/>theoretical framework that delves into the multifaceted dimensions of team <br/>competition climate and competitive orientation. it explores the intricate relationship <br/>between these constructs and employee performance, offering valuable insights into <br/>the nuances of motivation and productivity in a competitive workplace.<br/>A quantitative approach was employed, involving a survey questionnaire to collect <br/>data from 166 employees at various levels within the hotel. The findings reveal that a <br/>well-structured team competition climate has a significantly positive impact on <br/>employee performance, fostering a culture of excellence and motivation. However, it <br/>also highlights the need for a balanced approach to competition, as excessive rivalry <br/>can negatively affect employee competitive orientation.<br/>The study underscores the importance of recognizing and nurturing employee <br/>competitive orientation as a multifaceted construct that drives individual excellence. <br/>It suggests that managers should actively promote a competitive yet supportive team <br/>environment, continuously assess and adapt competitive strategies, and implement <br/>recognition and reward systems for outstanding performance. The research contributes <br/>to our understanding of the role of team competition, climate, and competitive <br/>orientation in the hospitality industry.
