ABSTRACT<br/>This research main aim is to ascertain how the adoption of ecommerce impacts the <br/>performance of SMEs in Lagos Nigeria. The study has specific objectives; to inspect <br/>the extent of ecommerce adoption by SMEs, to pinpoint factors that influences SMEs <br/>in Nigeria in adoption of ecommerce, to ascertain advantages acquired by SMEs by <br/>adopting ecommerce and to analyse the relationship between ecommerce adoption and <br/>SME performance. The study used ecommerce adoption, perceived compatibility, <br/>government/IT vendors support as the independent variable, while the dependent <br/>variable is SME performance (measured by the benefits of ecommerce). This study <br/>adopted a quantitative research design method using a target population of 500 and a <br/>sample size of 222. The data was collected using a primary method with questionnaires <br/>which was designed in Google Forms and distributed to the participants through <br/>emails. The data that was collected were tested using descriptive statistics, correlation <br/>analysis, and regression analysis. The regression analysis was used to test the <br/>relationship between the variables. H1 revealed that there is a positive significant <br/>relationship between ecommerce adoption and SME performance. H2 showed that <br/>perceived compatibility has a positive and significant connection with SME <br/>performance. H3 also revealed a positive and significant connection amongst support <br/>(govt/IT vendor) and performance. The study recommends that ecommerce adoption <br/>should be encouraged and supported by governments through ICT and skill acquisition <br/>programmes.
