ABSTRACT<br/>Organizations constantly seek methods to enhance creativity and innovation in today's <br/>highly competitive business world. Transformational leadership has been deemed to <br/>be an effective leadership style capable of improving employee creative and innovative <br/>ability which is often a result of a high level of employee motivation and job <br/>satisfaction. This study investigates the relationship between transformational<br/>leadership style, employees’ motivation, and job satisfaction, with emotional <br/>intelligence playing a moderating role in this relationship. A quantitative research <br/>method was used, and Primary data was collected using an online survey. The target <br/>population was 213 employees working in a printing and Publishing firm in Nigeria.<br/>157 employees partook in this survey, giving us a response rate of 73.7%. After <br/>exporting data from Excel and analyzing using SPSS, the result showed that there is a <br/>significant relationship between transformational leadership and employee motivation <br/>and job satisfaction, and emotional intelligence does not moderate this relationship. <br/>Although emotional intelligence has a moderately positive impact on job satisfaction <br/>with a beta weight (β) of .332*** which is statistically significant, the interaction term <br/>of transformational leadership style with emotional intelligence has a very weak <br/>negative impact on job satisfaction that is not significant statistically (β=-0.020, t=-<br/>.330, p= 0.742< .05). <br/>The sample size was small and restricted to a geographical location, the study also <br/>collected data from four branches of the same organization (FJWASA), Future <br/>researchers might consider conducting this research across different demographic <br/>regions and ethnic groups using different leadership styles. Researchers should also <br/>consider other possible moderating factors like the employees’ job position, job <br/>autonomy, and income level which may influence their level of motivation and job <br/>satisfaction.<br/>Keywords: Emotional Intelligence, Employee Motivation, Job Satisfaction, <br/>Leadership Styles, Transformational Leadership.<br/> |
