| Özet notu | ABSTRACT<br/>From breaking news and political analysis to pop culture news and social commentary, the mass media has long been a source of information for people all over the world. Human rights breaches committed by security personnel have been a persistent source of fear in Nigeria since the country's military dictatorships. The Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) outbreak served as inspiration for the #EndSARS campaign since it represented everything that was wrong with authority at the time. The purpose of this research was to compare the Punch and the Tide, the two most widely read newspapers in Nigeria. The purpose of this research was to examine the differences and similarities between the Punch and the tide in their coverage of the EndSars protests from October 9, 2020, to November 30, 2020. This study considered the qualitative methodology as the method of research. The frequency <br/>with which EndSars-related information appeared on the websites of the two aforementioned newspapers, the kind of the news delivered, its placement, and its headlines were all analysed. The research strategy used was a content-analytic one, and the newspaper's messages were examined in that light. Punch was discovered to have more #EndSARS headlines than Tide. The #EndSARS movement was also covered on more front pages of the Punch newspaper than the Tide newspaper was able to do on a daily basis. It was found that the Punch published more stories on the #EndSARS protest than any other publication.<br/>Keywords: #EndSARS, Journalism, Nigeria, Political Economy of Communication Theory, Protests, Social Movement, The Punch, The Tides. |
