Özet notu | The management of wounds creates a significant challenge in the healthcare sector. Any deviation in the natural healing process leads to impaired tissue regeneration, posing numerous problems. The use of chemical compounds to promote wound healing has been practiced for long time. However, the trajectory of modern medicine towards natural compounds necessitates finding new methods to enhance such compounds. The aim of this research is to synthesize a chitosan and gum Arabic polyelectrolyte complex loaded with chamomile and honey and explore its activities as a potential healing promoter.<br/>This study investigates the fabrication of a Chitosan -gum Arabic complex loaded with honey and chamomile as a potential wound healing promoter. Characterization analyses, including Zeta size, UV-Vis, and FTIR were carried out to determine the physicochemical properties of the complex. The antioxidant activity and cell migration activity of the synthesized nanoparticles were then analyzed to determine their potential as wound healing promoter. The synthesized nanoparticle exhibited the presence of alkyne, alkyl, hydroxyl, ester or ether and amines or amide groups similar to those in chitosan and gum Arabic, indicating their effective combination and formation of a complex. Phenol and alcohol groups were also present, likely attributed to the phenolic compounds in the honey and chamomile.<br/>The synthesized complex demonstrated enhanced radical scavenging activity compared to the herbal formulation and had a lower IC50 value than the extract and ascorbic acid, highlighting its increased efficacy at lower doses. There was also a significant increase in the rate of wound closure in the nanoparticles group compared to all other groups. The wound closure percentage increased with the concentration of nanoparticles. The synthesized Chitosan -gum Arabic complex has displayed favorable traits as a potential wound healing agent and warrants further to fully understand its chemical and biological properties. |
