'ABSTRACT The role of UNHCR in solving Refugee Crisis will be evaluated in this research. Performance of UNHCR in dealing with the protracted refugee issues and the contagious effect in the international society will be investigated and enumerated. The study will point out the ineffectiveness of the UNHCR in fulfilling the mandate to protect refugees and suggest ways and methods that can be adopted to reduce the ineffectiveness. A global issue such as refugee crisis requires attention; this study will therefore re-examine the negative impact of refugees and the inability of UNHCR to provide an effective care and protection. This study will use the Syrian refugee crisis and the South Sudan crisis as a case study, it will compare the performances of UNHCR in Syria and South Sudan and attempt to see how the negative impact of refugees can be highly reduced or totally eradicated, thereby pointing out how the crisis can be managed to the advantage of the host country.
