Konu(lar): Özet: 'ABSTRACT Terrorism is an international security issue that has continued to plague modern society. This is an unfortunate phenomenon that has continued to spread to many places of the globe. One of the most infamous terror attacks was the 9/11 on the USA, which was perpetrated by the "Al- Qaeda" and led to the announcement of the Bush administration's declaration of a "Global War on Terror". The UN's role in the "Global War on Terror" is important because it is the leading Intergovernmental Organization in the world. "Global War on Terror," resulted in the US's intervention into Afghanistan and Iraq. The declaration's main goal was to fight against terrorism and to prevent it from spreading further into the world. After the 9/11 attacks, the UN adopted global counter- terrorism strategies. However, due to the United States' unilateralism in relation to UN, made the UN's role in the "Global War on Terror" ineffective and limited. Unilateralism of the USA affected negatively to the UN- USA relations. The significance of the research was to explain the UN's failure in formulating its counter- terrorism strategies . The main purpose of the research was to analyze the UN's role in the "Global War on Terror" and its efforts in combating against terrorism.
