Konu(lar): Özet: 'ABSTRACT The urban and rural cities of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) is fast becoming more polluted. This is as a result of the emission of pollutant from the vehicles and industries within the cities, this pollution includes Particulate Matter, Ozone, and Nitrogen oxides. As such there is need to measure and control these emissions. The use of both ground stations and satellite data becomes necessary so to correlate the two pollutant both for the ground observed and satellite observation in TRNC. The satellite data can be used in place of where the ground station has not covered to know the amount of the pollutant in that location, the research covers both the spatial and temporal findings as obtained in the analysis. Map spatial distribution and the coefficient correlation of both the ground and satellite measurements were done. The PM10 highest mean value was recorded in Nicosia with mean value of 74.15 μg/m3 and the lowest with 16.82 μg/m3 in Alevkayasi for the ground observed, it also presented the correlation coefficient which shows there is a relationship between PM10 and AOD with positive correlation in the month of April with the value 0.95, 0.89, 0.71 and 0.52 across the stations and also in the month October with 0.95, 0.75, 0.71, 0.70, 0.69 and 0.57 and so on. Also in O3, the highest mean value of 124 μg/m3 in Alevkayasi and the lowest in Nicosia with 25.26 μg/m3 for ground observation and satellite estimation with the highest mean of 347 DU in Famagusta and the lowest of 281.9 DU in Kyrenia. O3 has the correlation of 0.56, 0.42, 0.43, and 0.46 across the stations etc., the relationship between ground and satellite in NO2 give the highest mean of 55.82 μg/m3 in Guzelyurt and the lowest mean of 1.57 μg/m3 in Alevkayasi for ground observation and 4. 81E+15 1/cm3 as the highest mean in Famagusta and the lowest mean with 2.8E+15 1 cm3 in Guzelyurt for satellite estimated it also had negative correlations across the stations with 0.43, 0.53, 0.49 and so on. Key words Aerosol optical depth, Geographical information System, MODIS'
