This is because some of the commonly used materials in construction have a harmful effect on the environment. Therefore, new construction technology that meets a healthy green environment is needed. Alker is earthen material stabilized by lime and gypsum. This study is to improve the mechanical properties of Alker by using polypropylene fiber reinforcement. The test program was designed to prepare the Alker based on the best composition of the lime, gypsum, and water. The effect of clay content on the behavior of Alker was also investigated. The test results showed that as polypropylene fiber content increased Alker exhibit a significant increase in the compressive strength and flexural strength. The maximum improvement in compressive and flexural strength attained at the polypropylene fiber content of 2% by 45% and 33.3 %, respectively. It is also found that clay content plays an important role in the mechanical properties of Alker. The more the clay content the higher the compressive and flexural strength. Scanning electronic microscope results showed that at high clay content the structure occurs due to cementation and binding of individual soil particles with lime and gypsum resulting in higher rigidity and greater strength of Alker. While at low clay content specimens appeared to have large voids between particles. Those voids contribute to the low compressive and flexural strength of Alker.
