Özet: ' The use of copula BE in English is one the problematic areas confronting Turkish learners from the very beginning up to advance levels. The objective of this thesis was to determine the reasons why Turkish learners of English leave out the copula BE in many cases. This thesis firstly aims to identify, describe and analyze copula BE as a main verb, progressive and passive in English and Turkish: secondly, find the differences between two languages: and thirdly, discuss the possible errors. Lastly, by the contrastive analysis of two languages enabling teachers to see why Turkish learners of the English leave out BE in certain places and let them to understand the errors and determined effective teaching strategies in order to overcome difficulties caused while using the copula be.'
