The aim of the study is assessing healthcare professional’s level and relationship of job satisfaction and performance base on salary, work treatment, working condition, motivation, promotion and field of specialization. The study also determined the relationship between job satisfaction and job performance in private hospitals in Buea, Cameroon. This was a cross sectional study conducted among 398 healthcare professionals in five private hospitals in Buea, South West Region of Cameroon. The study employed a cluster sampling technique and data was collected using a five point Likert scale questionnaire, where higher values indicated higher level of satisfactions. Data from questionnaire was analyzed using SPSS version 21. Frequency, Spearman’s rho correlation matrix and linear regression analysis were adopted. After calculating the total score for each of the job satisfaction variables, the overall job satisfaction score was calculated in a continuous scale ranging from 40-128. The overall job performance was also calculated from the job performance thematic area which consists of 6 items in a continuous scale of 6-30. The result revealed that with regards to job satisfaction, 33.7% healthcare professionals were dissatisfied and satisfied respectively with their job while 32.7% were indecisive. Base on job performance, 46.2% healthcare professionals had moderate performance, 33.4% had low performance and 20.3% had high performance. Majority healthcare professionals were dissatisfied with salary, work treatment, working condition, motivation and promotion. The level of job satisfaction and performance was low. To improve on job satisfaction and performance in Cameroon, appropriate authorities should focus on all the factors such as salary, work treatment, working condition, motivation and promotion affecting the level of job satisfaction and performance.
