ABSTRACT Global governance as a worldwide phenomenon faces a lot of challenges which include transnational organized crime. As far as international relations is concerned, the debate surrounding this subject has been very divisive with some scholars claiming that TOCs could be considered as a product of ineffective global governance practices. In other words, failed global governance has been one of the key facilitators of transnational organized crime. On the other hand, other scholars believe that it is actually the emergence of transnational organized crimes that had made it difficult for global governance to be effective. Whatever direction that the debate might swing towards, there is still one factor that would always remain constant, at least for a reasonable period, which is the fact that the consequences of TOCs do not usually affect only the nations involved. This study reviews the various problems that are undermining US national security with respect to transnational crime. The study also examines the policy solutions that were instituted by the Trump administration and how effective these policies have been.
