ABSTRACT
The current study aimed to measure the relationship between three leadership styles (charismatic,
transformational, and transactional leaderships) with three types of organizational commitment
(normative, continuous and affective commitment). Moreover, to find out the idea of leadership
and organization commitment in the public sectors in Erbil. The dimensions of organizational
commitment will be debated in further details to clarify and discover the perception. The
association of leadership styles with organizational commitment will be represented the entire
research. It is significant to recognize which leadership style will have better relationship with
organizational commitment. Around 12,323 employees are working for public sectors, the
researcher gathered 456 questionnaires from employees whom are working for public sectors in
Erbil. The main research questions are addressed to reach the purpose of the current study: The
following major questions are considered to address the aim of the current thesis: first research
question stated whether there is an association between leadership styles and organizational
commitment in public sectors in Erbil, and second research question stated which leadership style
affect the most on organizational commitment. As an alignment to research purpose, research
questions and research questions the researcher set below research model along with research
hypotheses:
The researcher applied simple regression analysis to measure all nine research hypotheses
developed in chapter one. The findings revealed that all research hypotheses are supported, which
enabled the study to answer the addressed research question which stated that whether there is
relationship between leadership styles and organizational commitment. However, it was found that
the highest value for first research hypothesis which stated that there is positive and significant
relationship between transactional leadership and Affective organizational commitment and the
lowest value was for fifth research hypothesis which stated that there is positive and significant
relationship between transformational leadership and continuous organizational commitment.
