ABSTRACT
This study seeks to examine the impacts of information system on the performance of insurance companies in Ghana; a case study of State Insurance Company Limited in Accra North. The purpose of the study was to learn more about State Insurance Company Limited's information system, find out how State Insurance Company Limited's employees are affected by the information system and to investigate the influence of State Insurance Company Limited's information system on customer satisfaction.
The research design used for the study was quantitative method which involve collecting of data from the respondents and analysing the data for the purpose of meeting the research objectives. The population for the study was State Insurance Company Limited where data was collected from 112 respondents.
The study concluded that information systems influence employees in the organization, and the impacts include the assurance they needed to complete their tasks, improving the quality of their jobs, reducing paper work, and handling transactions much more quickly.
It also concluded that information systems impact organizational internal processes. Some of the impacts are: accelerating the decision-making process of the organization, helping the company to increase employee productivity and flexibility; information flow between departments has been eased; and has aided in the faster delivery of services
Again, the results show that information systems have a financial impact on the performance of organizations. These include productivity improvements, an increase in revenue for the company, a decrease in production and service delivery costs, a decrease in logistic costs, an increase in gross profit, an increase in market share, a rise in stock market value for the company, and growth for the company, all of which have a financial impact.
