  • THE CASE OF PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS IN NORTHERN CYPRUS
Konu(lar): Tez notu: Thesis (MSc) - Cyprus International University. Institute of Graduate Studies and Research Management Information Systems Department Özet: ABSTRACT The research scrutinized the impact made on the Parliamentary elections in North Cyprus by Facebook engagements between politicians and the citizenry. This was necessitated by the basic actuality that there was either minimal or no experiential indagation that expatiates the subject. The research focussed on the Facebook posts by parliamentary candidates from the right-wing parties and the subsequent likes, comments and shares that were generated. The research also investigated the impact of the engagement as to whether it culminated into votes or no for the candidates. Thirty-two (32) right-wing parliamentary candidates were tracked on Facebook to expose their popularity, virality, commitment and engagement index. Through the deployment of the statistical package for social sciences, (SPSS), data was statistically analysed. The research established that the four defining parameters, namely, popularity, commitment, virality and engagement index enhanced the fortunes of the candidates in making them victorious in the elections.
