ABSTRACT
This study will focus on knowledge management, knowledge management processes, conflict management, negotiation as a conflict management technique, and Multinational Corporation making reference to a selected organization in Lagos State, Nigeria. The study seeks to find out the influence and role of knowledge management on conflict management, making use of Sağsan (2006) “life cycle of knowledge management” in which KM processes was defined and outlined to consists of creation, sharing, structuring, using, and auditing. This study will investigate the influence of some selected knowledge management processes (knowledge creation, knowledge sharing, and knowledge auditing) to determine its influence on negotiation as a conflict management technique, with emphasis placed on collaborating, avoiding, and accommodating as sub-dimensions of negotiation as a conflict management technique. Also, this study will venture into the meaning and nature of conflict management and why it is managers and organizations most preferred approach to the issue of conflict; what it means for organizations/managers to be said to be engaged in conflict management and the role knowledge management plays in its actualisation. In addition, this study will delve into the practicability of knowledge management as it has been an issue of debate amongst managers of organizations who hold knowledge management in bias believing it to be a boisterous claim by scholars. The quantitative approach via utilising the descriptive survey method was adopted for this research. The researcher was able to observe that knowledge management did have an influence on conflict management, and that each of the knowledge management processes tested in this research did differ from each other in the way that they did influence on conflict management. In addition, it was also observed that knowledge management is a practical approach with a high probability of reoccurrence, that the hostility of managers towards it lies in the very fact that it is costly to both establish and maintain as a system, often citing issues bordering on efficiency.
