ABSTRACT
Since its inception, Information and Communication Technology (ICTS) have had a major impact on lives and have integrated them into our daily lives. The world has become a global village since the advent of ICTs because they affect all human activities. Information technology is so influential that it is already an important factor in all human activities, whether in politics, society or economy. The study is conducted by administering 401 questionnaires to workers of the telecommunication network provider called MTN in Nigeria on the effects of ICT for job creation and economic development. Quantitative data analysis is used to analyse the data collected from the questionnaire.
The basic aim of this study is to examine the effects of ICT on the creation of jobs and also for economic development on MTN Nigeria telecommunications. In the achievement of this aim, 401 questionnaires are administered to gain the in-depth knowledge of the workers of MTN Nigeria telecommunications of using ICT at work. The first part of the questionnaire deals with demographic details (age, gender, educational level and job role). The second part of the questionnaire deals with questions regarding economic development, ICT, job creation and working during the pandemic. Quantitative data analysis is used to analyse this research. Results from the data analysis showed that ICT has a positive effect on the creation of jobs in Nigeria, ICT has a positive effect on economic development in Nigeria and ICT positively impacted the working conditions of the respondents during the pandemic.
