ABSTRACT
Road traffic injuries have a tremendous economic impact on individuals, their families, and
whole countries. Individuals who die or are handicapped as a result of their injuries, and
their families who are forced to take time out of work or school to care for them, all
contribute to these losses in the form of medical expenses and productivity losses. The study
seeks to assess the current road situation on the Accra-Tema motorway. The purpose of the
study is to find out the impact of average daily traffic, average speed, and heavy trucks on
injuries, deaths, and accidents. The Ghana Statistical Service's secondary data on accidents,
injuries, and deaths on the Accra-Tema from 2000 to 2020 were used in the study. It was
found that average daily traffic has a positive effect on injuries, deaths, and injuries and it is
statistically significant. The study revealed that heavy trucks have a negative effect on
injuries, deaths, and accidents. The study found that speed has a significant influence on
injuries, deaths, and accidents. Daily traffic on the road, heavy trucks that use the road, and
average speed have an influence on injuries, deaths, and accidents. The study also made
predictions about how many accidents, injuries, and deaths would happen on the motorway.
Each year, the number of accidents, injuries, and deaths are expected to go up.
