ABSTRACT
The building industry serves as a vehicle for attaining national aspirations and
objectives, project delays are a significant problem. This necessitated the employment
of modern technology, such as the Building Information Modeling system, which is a
computerized, three-dimensional, virtual representation of a construction project that
can be utilized for design decisions, cost estimations, and maintenance. The relatively
new technology of "Building Information Modeling" (BIM) improves productivity and
reduces the number of litigation and disputes that develop during construction projects.
This study's major objective is to compare traditional building methods with BIM
usage in a range of Saudi Arabian projects. It needs to categorize the most prevalent
types of construction delays in the KSA, compare selected delays and identify the most
risk which cases the delays in each approach, and study the benefits of BIM adoption
by comparing the results of each delay class. Based on the current project, determine
and implement the optimal building strategy due to its versatility and quickness, as
well as its function as a checkpoint to ensure that all respondents could access the
Internet. An online survey was utilized for this study (questionnaire). The replies to
the questionnaire were collected, categorized into a number of categories, and
imported into the SPSS software in order to facilitate an analysis using descriptive
statistics. Which helps to provide a number of advantages for (BIM) in the construction
sector during all phases of a project, from planning to completion. BIM enables
improved coordination and greater understanding of the construction projects by all
stakeholders. It can be concluded that using the (BIM) approach and taking client
related factors, has a stronger impact or influence on the studied variables and the
consultant related factor has a notable impact on the observed differences, contractor
related factors contribute to noticeable distinctions in the results compared to
traditional construction approaches. Also, it is supporting the notion that adopting BIM
can lead to improved outcomes or performance in areas influenced by these external
factors. Where a positive impact on financial-related aspects has been found also.
Utilizing BIM can facilitate architects' and engineers' ability to adapt to alterations in
the project's scope. From the Owner's perspective, BIM can be utilized to more
accurately anticipate future project costs.
