ABSTRACT
The teaching profession is often looked down on by many individuals in Botswana but it plays a significant role in the education level of the country. In order for a teacher to be able to perform their duties of educating the pupils and be fully committed they will have to be satisfied with their job. This study examines the
effect of leadership and motivation on primary school teachers. A sampling size will be generated through Rao soft sampling size calculator and a margin error of 5 % and a confidence level of 95%, 220 questionnaires were distributed. The results show a indirect relationship between servant leadership and
job satisfaction, a positive relationship between intrinsic motivation and job satisfaction. Barrie's of the study include age and gender, for example in past studies it was figured that the age group between (28 to 40) were more satisfied with their teaching profession than the age group above. Regression analyses has been used to test the proposed hypotheses, the findings were work satisfaction is not directly impacted by servant leadership. Servant leadership has a good impact on both intrinsic and extrinsic incentives, but only intrinsic
motivation has a major impact on job satisfaction. It follows that whereas extrinsic motivation does not mitigate the impact of servant leadership on work satisfaction. The results of the analyses supported the hypotheses H2, H3, H4 and H6 but rejected H1, H5 and H7. The findings have been discussed, along with any implications for theory or practice, limits and a suggested study goal.
