ABSTRACT
This study investigates the effects of work environment on employee performance in the service industry, specifically focusing on the telecommunication industry in Bamenda, Cameroon. The main aim of this research was to investigate the relationship between the physical and psychosocial work environment and employee performance within the telecommunication industry. The physical setting within the organization
included, the location of work, recreational facilities and health service security climate while the psychosocial setting included, the organizational climate. Through a comprehensive analysis of relevant literature and the use of a structured questionnaire, data was collected randomly from 100 employees working in MTN, Orange, NEXTTEL and CAMTEL. This was done under the umbrella of a descriptive research design. Statistical analysis techniques, including regression analysis, were employed to examine the relationship
between work environment factors and employee performance. Based on the results it was recommended that recreational facilities or activities within the workplace should be provided as it can help reduce work-related stress and improve employee satisfaction and consequently performance. Therefore, Organizations should consider allocating resources to develop and maintain recreational spaces that promote
employee well-being.
