Just like any other African country, Cameroon has undergone so many foreign policies which exhibits its feebleness, concerns and power. Since its independence, Cameroon’s choices of foreign relations and policies have been influenced largely by the outcome of colonial rule such as poverty, economic crisis, illiteracy, dependency and poor governments. Also, a large percentage of her policies are tied with France its former colonial leader, this has influenced several writers to term Cameroon’s relationship with France a neo colonial relationship. Thus, this research study seeks to investigate how colonial rule and its after effects have influenced Cameroon’s choices of foreign policy/relations since its independence. It is also aimed at bringing out France and Cameroon’s neo colonial relationship in foreign policy, and we try to answer the question why majority of its choices of policies are with France, and how it affects the nation.in a bit to answer these questions and with the use of doctrinal and analytical research methods making use of secondary and primary sources of information, we came to the conclusion that majority of Cameroon’s choices in foreign policies is in other to restore the nation from the devastating effects of colonialism which still lingers in the nation till date. Thus, the effects of colonialism have a great rule to play on the choices of decision makers in Cameroon.
