Gender inequality raises aspersion on the political sphere of Sierra Leone, which often makes the subject of women inclusion in politics topical and interesting for critical stakeholders, such as civil society organizations, political activist, international organizations and individuals who are concerned about gender parity with regards to men and women representation in political positions. This study examined the sociological factors influencing gender inequality in the political landscape of Sierra Leone. It explored a plethora of factors affecting women in politics, which clearly found most of the challenges domiciled and particular to the Sierra Leone society. To achieve this onerous task, qualitative research technique was adopted as instrument to investigate and review scholarly materials that have given an in-depth analysis on the subject matter. To this end, women underrepresentation in Sierra Leone politics is often determined by patriarchal party structure, socio-cultural factors that hinders women participation in public affairs, low women empowerment and education and the economic might needed during the electioneering process were uncovered. The driving force of this study will be to explore the grey areas and further establish a clear and coherent understanding of these issues with the aim of providing a policy instrument that will build upon the gains of the previous years in the quest to have a society devoid of gender bias and prejudice that impedes women political participation.
