Özet: 'ABSTRACT The objective of the current research was to investigate the correlation between English speaking proficiency and speaking anxiety among EFL English major students of the Department of English in Duhok University. An overall of 157 students, including 80 freshmen, and 77 sophomores took part in this research. The Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale (Horwitz and others, 1986) was employed to gather the data. This research targeted to discover the study questions listed below: 1. Is there a statistical difference in foreign language anxiety between males and females? 2. Is there a correlation between speaking anxiety and speaking proficiency among Duhok university students? 3. Is there a difference between varieties of speaking proficiency levels among Duhok university students? The findings of the study revealed that there was no significant difference between males and females in responding foreign language anxiety among Kurdish undergraduate. In addition to the findings of this study, a significant correlation has been found between speaking anxiety and speaking proficiency among Duhok university students. Moreover, the findings of the current study showed that there was a highly significant difference between varieties of speaking proficiency levels among Duhok university students.
