Konu(lar): Özet: 'ABSTRACT This research studies the impact of technology on journalism and the changes that the field has undergone due to the emergence of new media technologies. With the popularity of mobile devices, many readers now access the news online and on the go leading to the dwindling circulation of newspapers as websites become preferable to the printed product. As a result, media companies have adapted by producing new formats of reporting exclusively for the online audience. For the purpose of this research, the focus is on live blogs and online multimedia storytelling. These two forms of web reporting have different features, but both were created to keep the online audience engaged. Media industry discourse and discourse analysis were used in order to understand, interpret and analyze these styles. The materials on live blogs were collected from three different media organizations covering a significant media event and the different ways that they used the live blog to explain the event is analyzed. Similarly, for multimedia storytelling, three web stories were used from three media organizations, but on different topics and their different approaches to telling a web story are explored. New media technologies have revolutionized the news production processes as media personnel use the internet to gather, produce and distribute content while the audiences also use technology to access and consume it. Technology has also changed what it is like to be a journalist as social media has afforded journalists more access to their audiences and a channel to brand themselves as valuable assets to media companies. Live blogs were found to be interactive, but I argue that they are not as participatory as audiences believe. Multimedia is also found to be a significant tool of engagement which media organizations use to enhance journalistic storytelling. Media organizations have also used online multimedia storytelling to promote their brands even though it remains to be seen if it will be used for other purposes in the future. Key words: New media technologies, web journalism, live blogs, online multimedia storytelling.'
