Konu(lar): Özet: 'ABSTRACT Since reading is considered as one of the most important skills in foreign language education, this study aims to find out to what extend students apply reading strategies in their academic readings. This study also aims to highlight which reading strategies are mostly used and which ones are underestimated by EFL students. Another purpose of this study is to point out whether there are any differences between students at different proficiency levels in the use of reading strategies. Moreover, this study aims to find out whether brain dominance has an impact on the use of reading strategies . This study was carried out with 96 university preparatory school students. The participants were given two questionnaires with the aim to find out their brain dominance and which reading strategies they apply in the classroom. The results revealed that students are not aware of the importance of the reading strategies since they report that they use the most important strategies least frequently. In this study, no significant difference was found in the use of reading strategies between the learners of English at different proficiency levels. Moreover, this study revealed that brain dominance might not be a determinant about the use of reading strategies.'
