'ABSTRACT Analysis of the air quality in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus using some criteria air pollutants namely; Nitrogen dioxide (NO2), Sulphur dioxide (SO2) and Ozone (O3) on a daily, seasonal and annual basis. A correlation is made between the air quality standard and the pollutants is made to assess the air quality. A GIS technique of interpolation using Inverse Distance Weighted method is used to spatially distribute the pollutants across the Cyprus to know the concentration levels at different sample locations and the ambient environment. An estimate of the urban heat island intensity using the number of inhabitants for two reference locations namely; Nicosia which is consider to be the urban area and Gecitkale the rural surrounding. Meteorological temperature data analysis and the Land Surface Temperature estimate using remotely sensored satellite using Landsat 8 images of Cyprus is made to ascertain the existence of the phenomenon of urban heat island. Keywords: Air quality, Urban Heat Island, Interpolation, Concentration, Analysis, Land Surface Temperature.'
