Özet: 'Title: Contrastive Analysis of English and Turkish Adjectives and Adjectival Groups Author: Müjde Özlüses Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Neil Bratton Thesis Committee Members: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdul Ghafoor : Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sonuç Dimililer In this study English and Turkish adjectives and adjectival groups are compared and contrasted in order to predict the possible difficulties of a Turkish learner of English in this area of grammar. The main difference resides in the Head Parameter: English is a head-first and Turkish is a head-last language. Consequently, post-head qualifiers in English come before the head in Turkish. However the order of determiners and (pre-head) modifiers is much the same in both languages. These similarities and differences are analyzed and should provide teachers and writers with useful data on which to base their teaching materials. '
