Konu(lar): Özet: 'Whey is a boy-product of cheese making, is the liquid that remains after the process of the curds, which are formed by the action of enzymes or acid on milk. The discharge is a greenish-yellow liquid and can be regarded as milk free of casein and fat. Whey effluents have COD values in the interval 0,98-102 gL-1 and BOD values in the range 0,6-60 gL-1 leading to a high consumption of dissolved oxygen in lakes streams or rivers. The lactose and fat constituents are mostly regarded as the main responsible for COD and BOD. With very high concentration of organic matter, these effluents can create serious problems of organic burden on the local sewage treatment systems. Characterization of the whet wastewater gives a COD of 65,225.92mg/L, TOC 33,888mg/L, TS 49654mg/L, TVS 44756mg/L, TSS 30083, ash 9.864% an TN of 2738mg/Land the pH of the system was kept in the range of 6.8-7.2. The whey wastewater was put in the 5L reactor for the reduction of residual nutrients and pollutants that cannot be treated in AD. Moreover, the removal efficiencies in the anaerobic digestion has COD (61.75%, 71.89% and 64.52%) 1st 2nd 3rd feeding respectively, TN(52%, 77.55% and 60.41%) 1st 2nd and 3rd feeding as well as TP(57.48%, 38.00% and 61.68%) in the 1st 2nd and 3rd feeding points respectively the results indicate that there are pollutant residuals which needed further treatments which was taken to the aerobic and anoxic parts of the experiments, In the aerobic treatment the removal efficiencies of the whey wastewater COD (68.29% and 95.47%), TN (79.18%, 97.7%), TP(65.85% and 91.53%) while for the anoxic COD (59.74% and 94.97%), TN (66.7 %), TP (56.2% and 71.38%), which shows that the reactors are efficient enough to remove the COD as well as the nutrients (TN & TP).
