ABSTRACT Technology has undisputedly brought a massive change in various sectors to which the educational sector is no exception. In recent times, students interact in diverse ways with computers or digital devices and internet in the quest of achieving academic excellence and self-development. The utmost purpose of the study is to investigate the effect or impact of digitalization in educational environment on the well-being of students in terms of the adoption and use of digital devices, internet, online studies/learning environment, educational application software, collaborative learning. This research adopted a quantitative technique to examine the impact of human-computer interaction in academia, with particular emphasis on the well-being of students. Structured questionnaire was used to collect data from the respondents. A simple random sampling technique, together with Yamane’s sampling formula were also used to sample 401 students from Cyprus International University. The data was analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS 24). The results from the Pearson Correlation analysis indicated that, technological knowledge and readiness (TKR) as well as usability of technology (UT) in educational environment have significantly influence on students’ academic performance. The findings further revealed that effectiveness of HCI (EHCI) and affective computing (AF) have strong positive correlation with students’ well-being (SWB). From the findings, this study concludes that appropriate adoption and effectiveness of digital devices (like smartphones, laptop, tablet/iPad, desktop computers), online educational platforms (Moodle, google, YouTube) and social media platforms (Facebook, WhatsApp, LinkedIn) in education positively impact on students’ well-being. The study recommends that teachers and other educational practitioners should pay much attention in adopting the right technological devices and applications during the teaching and learning processes. This would help to exploit the full capabilities and efficiency of technological devices and applications in education.
