Institute of Graduate Studies and Research Communication and Media Studies Department N2 - ABSTRACT This dissertation, by analysing documentary films, aims to outline the purpose of reconciliation between two ethnic communities in Cyprus – namely Turkish and Greek Cypriots – who have experienced serious conflicts for many years. Although there are differences in terms of language and religion, the cultural and social backgrounds of the communities have many similarities. However, the atmosphere on the island gradually changed due to the involvement of politics in daily life, which created two poles.
