Heat pipes and solar technology system are extremely flexible technologies in terms of their ability to effectively control temperature. This study presents a review on the use of heat pipe, heat exchangers and solar technology system for heating and cooling households. Heat pipes can be easily accomplished as thermal links and heat exchangers in water heating systems to make sure the energy saving and environmental protection. The study involves the design and analysis of a solar technology system to be used for domestic purposes. The design and construction of a heat pipe solar water heater and solar PV system has been realized based on the needed of a selected house, which is properly insulated to reduce the said loads. Water, as the most common heat pipe working fluid, has been preferred and has an operating temperature range from 20°C to 280°C. It has been shown that up to an extra 50% efficiency can be reached through the use of heat pipe, substantially reducing the cooling and heating bills of an ordinary building having about 200m2 closed space area using PV panels. It can be said that the additional cost of adding heat pipe and solar technology system will have a short payback period.
