ABSTRACT The study aims to provide a detailed understanding on the role of communication and knowledge-sharing patterns on team-building and effectiveness. The study also aims to reveal the communication patterns and knowledge-sharing preferences of the participants. In addition, the study aims to understand how participants evaluate the role of communication and knowledge-sharing patterns of the organization on the team-building process along with team effectiveness. Furthermore, the study aims to reveal how working in teams contributes to organizational success. This study utilizes a qualitative methodology and study data collected with open-ended interview questions. A web-based questionnaire was administered to the study participants. Non-random, convenience sampling was used where the researcher selected the participants based on their availability. A total of 40 participants were selected from financial institutions, institutions of learning (tertiary and secondary), the telecommunication sector, petroleum sector non-governmental organizations, and the hospitality industry. Collected data were analyzed with content analysis which is conducted based on categorizing the textual data to identify patterns and themes. The study revealed the communication and knowledge-sharing patterns and their role in the team-building process and team effectiveness through coding the textual data and identifying main themes and major theme categories. The findings have demonstrated two significant points about the role of communication and knowledge-sharing patterns on the team-building process and team effectiveness. First, it shows that effective communication and knowledge-sharing patterns in the team-building process should be enforced entirely in every project-based organization so that it can be integrated as one of the necessary standards and values of the corporate culture of the institutions. Second, it divulges the factors of flexible skills such as communication skills, the capacity to handle crises and difficulties in the workplace, and the attributes of communication and knowledge-sharingamongst workers should be checked. Findings of the thesis are seen as the promotion of good services, the value of the services, customer satisfaction, fast and efficient delivery of goods and services through the use of communication skills and knowledgesharingto promote team-building, and team effectiveness in the achievement of goals in PBOs (Project-Based Organizations). It also builds relationship and bond among team members aside work-related relationship. It also improves specialization through delegation of task that are convienent to the knowledge areas of team members.
