ABSTRACT
Entrepreneurship is the primary driver of industrial growth and competitiveness and a
means of social advancement. In the modern era, innovations, strengths, skills, and
expertise that foster entrepreneurship are evident in people worldwide, particularly in
today's youth. Entrepreneurship plays a significant role in boosting the economy by
engendering innovativeness and employment creation. Growth in global markets now
requires individuals talented and open to new business opportunities who will take
risky actions. This study examines some entrepreneurial traits that an individual may
have and likely positive influence on organizations operations by generating new ideas
and business deals which in turn will affect country's development and economic
improvement. This study intends to understand relation between eccentric features of
an individual such as Achievement Orientation, Proactive Personality and Locus of
Control and Entrepreneurial Potential. In this study, Entrepreneurial Potential is the
dependent variable predicted to be determined by the locus of control, proactive
personality, and achievement orientation, which are independent variables. It is
believed that Entrepreneurial Potential plays a significant role in moving individuals
from intention to action. Self-structured questionnaires are utilized for data collection
and a question set was distributed to part-time and full-time Business Administration
students at Cyprus International University. A random sampling method was used to
administer the survey in fall 2021/2022 semester. It is observed that individuals with
eccentric features such as locus of control, proactive personality and achievement
orientation, to some extent, are related with display of Entrepreneurial Potential.
Research study suggests that locus of control, proactive personality, and achievement
orientation can become determinants of Entrepreneurial Potential and individuals with
such attributes intent take action on new opportunities in business, become first mover,
and initiate new business activity in the future. Individuals without such attributes may
work for some organizations or may learn how to gain such abilities to start their own
business activity. Application of trait tests for individuals may increase awareness of
possible potential candidates for future entrepreneurs.
