<br/><br/> ABSTRACT <br/>A continuing discussion is the culturalist relativist approach to human rights, <br/>particularly in Asia where cultural values and traditions are greatly valued. This essay <br/>seeks to assess this strategy from the standpoint of Asia. The fundamental ideas of <br/>cultural relativism are examined, as well as how they affect such human rights as <br/>freedom of speech, gender equality, and marriage.<br/>This study looks at the difficulties that the cultural relativist approach to the promotion <br/>and defense of human rights in Asia poses. It assesses the arguments in favour of and <br/>against the cultural relativist viewpoint and offers academic examples from several <br/>Asian nations, including China and Myanmar, to show how the viewpoint can be used <br/>to violate human rights.<br/>The study concludes by arguing that, while cultural values and traditions are important, <br/>they should not be used to justify violations of human rights. It suggests that human <br/>rights be regarded as universal and indivisible, and that cultural traditions and practices <br/>be reassessed to ensure that they do not violate human rights. This study also <br/>emphasizes the significance of regional protection mechanisms in promoting and <br/>defending human rights in Asia, and it advocates for the application of international <br/>human rights norms.<br/>This essay offers a critical assessment of Asia's cultural relativist approach to human <br/>rights. It emphasizes the significance of acknowledging the universality of human <br/>rights while also preserving cultural values and customs. This study stresses the <br/>importance of a balanced approach to human rights, one that takes cultural values and <br/>traditions into account while respecting human rights principles.
