ABSTRACT
Sexual harassment and workplace incivility can seriously harm nurses' intentions to
leave their jobs and their sense of job satisfaction. Incivility and sexual harassment
was studied if it is found to be significant predictors of nurses' desire to leave and
job satisfaction in a research study done in the Nigerian states of Lagos and Ogun,
which included a sample of 350 participants, 210 from Lagos and 140 from Ogun.
These findings will highlight the need for interventions to address and prevent
incivility and sexual harassment in the workplace, in order to improve retention and
satisfaction among nurses. This study aims to examine the impact of workplace
incivility and sexual harassment on nurses' job satisfaction and intention to leave.
Workplace incivility and sexual harassment put nurses’ job security, earning
potential, and ability to produce at risk, which exposes them to low morale and a
toxic organizational culture. The abused employees are advised to speak up, form
networks of support, and take action to stop sexual harassment and workplace
incivility. The findings suggest that both workplace incivility and sexual harassment
are significant predictors of nurses' intention to leave and job satisfaction.
Specifically, nurses who experienced higher levels of workplace incivility and sexual
harassment reported lower levels of job satisfaction and higher intention to leave
their current jobs. The study highlights the importance of addressing workplace
incivility and sexual harassment in healthcare settings to improve nurses' job
satisfaction and retention.
