This is because a lot of patients do not take their medications as directed by their doctors or other medical professionals. Examples include not comprehending the directions, forgetfulness, taking multiple medications with various regimens, experiencing undesirable side effects, or the medication not appearing to be working. Cost can also be a factor in medication adherence where patients cannot afford to fill their prescriptions or choose to take less than the recommended dose to extend the duration of the prescription. However, a quantitative research approach was chosen for this study. Using structured data collection techniques, theoretically derived research hypotheses were examined using correlation and multiple regression analysis. And the result shows that health literacy have moderate influence on medication adherence among Liberian patients and this influece can also be moderated by the role social support.
