ABSTRACT Blockchain technology has received significant attention from many people around the world due its potential to increase the efficiency, transparency and sustainability of the existing mechanisms which can revolutionize many fields. However implementation of blockchain technology on some fields are still missing. One of these biggest sectors that can make a splash by the key features of blockchain technology is food industry. The food supply chain management software can become more versatile by using the transparency and immutability features of blockchain technology which can create new ways of doing things. This thesis aims to fill this gap by providing a systematic literature and proposing a model on adopting blockchain into the food supply chain management systems. The extensive literature review examines the previous implementations of blockchain technology on various sectors. The proposed model offer a new way of blockchain integration to the supply chain management systems.
